Two-Fisted Law

Session 2

The players, now aware that they are in possession of some strange object, decide to track down the fleeing bandits.

Wandering the Kansas plains on foot, they set out on foot to the north, following the tell tale signs of horses. After some trudging, they encountered what appeared to be a vicious tumbleweed and disposed of it promptly with a some flammable spirits.

The group stumbled across an old farmhouse and barn which appeared to be housing the bandits. They carefully sneaked around the buildings and scouted the situation. With some improvisation, the looped detonation cord around the house as the day turned to dusk. The ensuing explosion collapsed the farm house and they carefully picked off the survivors, leaving one for questions.

They pumped the man for information as they pilfered the bandits’ horses. He made mention of the Coyotes wanting the item from the train. The group decided to head south to the Oklahoma territories to ask them personally. Obviously, they had nothing better to do.

Character Creation

We will begin character creation on Dec 30. Feel free to brainstorm a western themed concept and once everyone has gathered we will pour over the Deadlands setting to round out and give life to your concept.

Quick notes, Deadlands is set 20 years after the Civil War. The Conefederacy broke away successfully and is a nation unto itself, as well as a few smaller, outlying nations. There was a terrible catastrophe in the west which exposed a new form of fuel, called ghost rock, which burns hotter and longer than coal and screams. Industrial progress is moving swiftly. Paranormal activity seems to be not quite so uncommon. Some blame the natives, some blame the ghost rock, and some think it may be God. Who knows?

I encourage you to come up with any concept within the bounds of the setting. We will do the research together to piece together the fluff. The setting is primarily western with a touch of supernatural horror and steam punk. Watching a western or two may help inspire a concept or two. Do not expect superpowers, robots, becoming a vampire/werewolf/etc, or world domination. Do expect high adventure, barfights, ghouls, duels, lost treasures, cults, and ax murderers.

Welcome to your Adventure Log!
A blog for your campaign

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
